Grand Prix 2025 AFTER WRECKENTON XC

Brampton to Carlisle 10M

Updated standings for the 2025 Grand Prix following the Brampton to Carlisle 10M race on Sunday. Well done to all six runners who took part.
Next up is the XC on Sunday so if you fancy 5 points and a run around Wreckenton then good news! It’s not too late to get involved either so if you haven’t already signed up then Justin Cox and Christine Hearmon are the club XC captains and can help you with that.

Round and Round We Go

Updated Grand Prix 2025 standings following the Remembrance Run in Durham yesterday.
Well done to all who took part including some of our juniors who tackled the 3k. Super effort!
Next up is the 73rd Brampton to Carlisle 10 race on Sunday. This is the UK’s oldest 10 mile road race! At the time of posting the race is showing as full so well done if you managed to get an entry.

Grand Prix 2025 AFTER REMEMBRANCE RUN

Spooktacular Runners Earn Grand Prix Points

Seven hardy Harriers braved the Muddy Roads Halloween 5k to record points for the 2025 Grand Prix.  Some took the fancy dress optional instruction to heart and thoroughly embraced it.  Others took a more too-cool-for-school approach (Trina) and some took the more subtle approach of vaguely resembling Forrest Gump….seems quite on-brand for Declan really.

What have we learned from this?  Well, a pumpkin hat doesn’t quite constitute a fancy dress outfit (apparently) and that it’s always wise to road-test a full-body outfit in advance to check for chaffing.  Oh, and that 6 or 7 well-dressed and well-rehearsed zombies in the woods can actually be quite intimidating after all.

New 10k Women’s Road Record!

Congratulations to Sadie Abel on improving her existing club record in the women’s 10k road to a spectacular 39m 13s knocking 11 seconds off her previous best.  Well done Sadie!

Huge Turnout for Thornley XC boosts Grand Prix points!

A massive turnout for the first XC meeting of the season meant that 25 senior members gained 5 points each towards their Grand Prix totals!  The junior section was also well represented with runners across lots of the age groups proudly wearing the white & blue.

With 3 more XC meetings in 2025 and 6 more GP races then there is still plenty to play for!  Turn up, win the lot and that’s 75 points!  If only it was that simple.
